The Family Infant Toddler Program is part of Kalamazoo RESA's Great Start programming. It is an early intervention special education service for children ages birth to three years of age. The children attend play-centered sessions and receive home visits. The staff consists of early childhood teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and special consultants. These children have been identified through evaluation to have a developmental delay or a physical impairment that could impact their ability to learn or function successfully in educational settings. Recognizing that parents play the primary role in children's learning, all sessions involve the child with the parent or guardian. This program serves all qualifying families from Kalamazoo County. |
