Any adult who has ever had the privilege of visiting a kindergarten classroom has relived the sheer joy of education.
The children are excited about learning and the opportunities each new day brings. Their futures are like an open book, where no dream is too big.
The Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency would like children to maintain that zeal for learning for the rest of their lives. We want them to have every opportunity to learn from the best, experience the most and reach their highest goal.
Our Foundation exists to make sure that happens — now, and in the future. Kalamazoo RESA has expanded to meet community needs. One example: In July 2013, the federal government granted the agency oversight of Kalamazoo County’s Head Start program. As Kalamazoo RESA continues to grow, the Foundation will be there, supporting its mission: To provide innovative and responsive educational services to educators and learners through leadership, collaboration and support. Kalamazoo RESA’s uniquely comprehensive scope means the Foundation can help ensure these services reach more than 34,000 students in the county’s nine districts, from birth through adulthood.
To that end,the Kalamazoo RESA Foundation is committed to:
• Supporting Kalamazoo RESA’s programs and services
• Developing exemplary and innovative education programs
• Growing staff skills through professional development and training opportunities
• Supporting research and evaluation
In 2013, the Foundation secured and awarded:
$32,350 in scholarships to high school seniors and college students
$5,000 in Employee Enrichment Grants to Kalamazoo RESA staff
$4,000 to YOU participants
As we move forward, the Kalamazoo RESA Foundation continues to grow its reputation and donor base. We’re proud to support today’s students as they prepare to build economic and social well-being in tomorrow’s communities.
You can help. Here’s how:
Give to the Unrestricted Fund
Your unrestricted gift offers the Foundation the greatest flexibility to respond to changing needs of students and staff. The earned income on assets helps provide grants, scholarships and special programs to Kalamazoo County students.
Give to the Y.O.U. Restricted Fund
If you’re especially interested in benefiting the students involved in Youth Opportunities Unlimited, you can designate your gift to this fund.
Because we are a public charity, contributions qualify for maximum deductibility.
